i'm a big scaredy-cat. i'm not a fan of horror films or any disturbing image that will coincidentally flash in my mind at night, when the lights are out and everybody else is asleep except me. however, there are some things that scare me more than the usual monster that hides under the bed. these are:
1. any kind of FROG! okay, so frogs aren't really that dangerous or scary unlike snakes or spiders. they don't bite or sting or do something evil or mischievous. In fact, they really don't do much other than sit still, hop around and blow up their throats to produce those mating noises (which, by the way is like a foreboding signal for me to run away). i don't know. they're just so freakin' creepy! most of them are slimy but what gets me the most is those huge bullfrogs with rough, wart-laden skin. ugh! facing something like that is the ultimate nightmare for me. i'm so freaked out with frogs that the mere sight of them produces goose bumps and would make me scream and jump about like the most embarrassing sissy that I am. everytime i encounter one on the road, i fear that it might jump and stick its slimy, warty body to my leg and if ever that happens (knock on wood), i am certain that i will pass out. give me cockroaches, spiders, rats, even big snakes any day. just not these slimy, warty amphibians.
now i'm wondering why the hell i even pasted images here. |
| hera May 12, 2006 12:51 AM PDT ric-- your art pieces are disturbing which makes them really effective. asteeg! :D corsair-- event horizon? hmm... i'll research this on the net. nightmares for a week? whoa, baka di ko makayanan yan. hehe hmm... i wonder if you scream like a girl at the sight of a spider. :D | ||
| Corsarius May 11, 2006 01:44 AM PDT "i'm not a fan of horror films or any disturbing image that will coincidentally flash in my mind at night" pareho pala tayo. watched Event Horizon? such a gruesome sci-fi flick. gave me nightmares for one week. no kiddin. at least you're not afraid of spiders. arachnophobic here ;) | ||
| ric May 10, 2006 07:05 PM PDT Regarding your rant about disturbing images, check out my gallery here: http://mental-noise.deviantart.com/gallery and tell me if you enjoy your visit. I hope it doesn't scare you. =D | ||
| hera May 9, 2006 10:39 PM PDT light-- i agree, some fears do start from childhood. or maybe you're afraid of snakes bec they remind you of a traumatic event? hmm... not a psychologist though. hehe jane / yam / trans-- although sadako reminds us of the white lady but she's in a different level when it comes to being the sinister avenger. her life story is interesting enough for me to watch all three "ringu" movies. | ||
| Gangadhar May 9, 2006 08:26 PM PDT Hera, First time on your blog,i think..loved dis post... btw good to see you on moi blog.... keep visiting... | ||
| transience May 9, 2006 04:36 PM PDT aye on sadako. best horror icon ever. | ||
| yayam May 9, 2006 02:30 PM PDT nakakatakot talaga si sadako!!! hindi ko nakumpleto yung the ring talaga..wahehhe..:p | ||
| jane May 9, 2006 05:16 AM PDT Sadako freaked me out too :( | ||
| little light May 9, 2006 02:20 AM PDT i'd scream my lungs out if i see a picture of a snake. i believe our fears rooted from sometime during our childhood. i am trying to find out how i got mine. | ||
| hera May 8, 2006 04:18 PM PDT guy-- i am a weirdo, i know. and i don't think i could kiss a frog even if it's my handsome prince. i can't even look at an actual frog. gab-- haha, thanks for sharing that experience. at the heigh of the ring scare, people have been on their toes whenever a phone would ring. maybe that's because they're just pictures. but i'd still scream my lungs out whenever i'd see a frog. bomalabs-- malabo ka pa rin hanggang ngayon. ade-- fortunately for me, we didn't have to dissect frogs during high school. | ||
| ade May 8, 2006 08:19 AM PDT hahahaha! Love this post. Yep, Sadako (and her american counterpart, Samara) gave me the creeps. And the Ringu trilogy rocks, it's worth getting scared. BTW, how did you get past highschoolbiology if frogs creeped you out? Please do tell! | ||
| gab3 May 6, 2006 10:11 AM PDT "now i'm wondering why the hell i even pasted images here." --> only means you're overcoming your fears. :) i won't ever forget that movie, the ring. while we were watching it on tv, the phone rang. and since my youngest brother is the one closest to the phone, though a bit hesitant, he grabbed it. i can still remember the look on his face when he told us that no one was answering. the phone rang again after a few moments and it turned out that it was my friend trying to call me and he had to put the receiver down for he was suddenly summoned by his boss. my little brother could have killed my friend if he saw him that night. | ||
| snglguy May 5, 2006 11:40 AM PDT I can understand you getting freaked out by Sadako, but by the Sto. Nino? I guess going inside a Chinese temple is out of the question then, what with all those statues of the different deities looking down on you. You're not afraid of snakes, cockroaches, spiders, and rats. But is terrified of...frogs. But what if that's your 'handsome prince'? Hehe :-) | ||
